The frame house where the Smith Family lived for three years was started by Alvin who worked on it until he was suddenly taken by illness and died. The Smiths eventually finished and lived in it until it was taken by the bank for financial reasons, and the family had to return to the log home. In this house, Joseph brought the plates and hid them underneath the bricks by the fireplace, fearing a mob would come and try to find it. The house is 85% original, so is fair to say that we had walked the same rooms the prophet did.
