Foz do Iguacu - Cataratas Waterfalls May 16, 2012

We headed out for Cataratas Waterfalls at 8am. Talk about a perfect day. Sunny weather (up until now we had gray skies and rain in Curitiba), rainbows, comfortably warm, and perfect timing before all the big crowds hit. We took the walking trail to enjoy all the beautiful nature. The kids loved wearing the white raincoats and pretneded to be ghosts. Beautiful earth, trees, water, sky, colors. My short hair really puffed and curled!

Foz do Iguacu - Itaipu & Tres Fronteras May 15, 2012

We flew from Curitiba to Foz do Iguacu with Belo, Bela, Ellis, and Terry. We finally got some nice sunny weather. And just in time to see some outdoor landmarks. First we visited Itaipu which is a huge dam built by Brazil and Paraguay. The river runs between the two countries and they share the generated power 50/50. We took a bus ride tour to see it all. We went back to the hotel for lunch, had naps, played a bit by the pool, then headed off to see the markers of the three frontiers - Tres Fronteras: Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay. You could see each country's marker from across the river. We even drove across the bridge into Argentina and did a little shopping.
